A conversation during a visit to a school in Zimbabwe.

Travel reports

Visits tell the stories behind the projects.

We visit schools, speak with families and make time for our partners. Here we share our experiences in Zimbabwe: what has changed, what is working and which questions we are still exploring.

Transparency on the ground

Every visit informs our next decisions.

During our visits, we review what works in everyday life together with schools and partners. Their experience helps us plan the next steps and direct support to where it is needed.

New ideas, new encounters, new hope.

The 2025 visit shows how small changes can make a big difference: clean water, shared responsibility and economic self-reliance. Alongside school visits, we met with Kapnek, the University of Zimbabwe, the German Embassy in Harare and partners including Dr Greg and Sue Powell.

Masiyarwa, health checks and strong families.

Christina and Brigitte saw the impact of the ECD programme at schools: protein-rich porridge, regular health checks and early learning. Their visit also highlighted therapy services, families with children with disabilities and food packages.

Years of visits

Trust grows over time.

The foundation has worked with Kapnek for over 20 years. This close relationship makes the work less abstract: decisions are discussed locally, because people there know best which solutions work in daily life.

School communities

Getting to know schools personally.

Conversations with teachers, parents and children show us what a school needs and which ideas are emerging locally.

We do not just want to say that help reaches people. We want to show what it makes possible.

We share progress as well as difficulties. Both are part of supporting schools and communities on their journey towards greater self-reliance.

Places and people

Visits build connections.

Every visit deepens our connection with Zimbabwe. Meeting school communities, talking with partners and observing daily life help us understand which next step makes sense locally.
