The Order of the Dominican Sisters

Regular visits of the Herz couple in Harare and the Sisters Patricia and Gabriele in Heidelberg have strengthened the cooperation and understanding of the problems facing the people of Zimbabwe. The foundation has supported about 100 children from the Hatcliffe area to enable them to go to the neighboring school about 5 km from Hatcliffe.

The Order of the Dominican Sisters originated in Germany in 1394. The first sisters came to Zimbabwe in 1891 and started mission hospitals and schools. This organization also focused their efforts on slums (Hatcliffe), an area outside Harare with a population of over 40,000 people, an area occupied by the poorest of the poor. Once a week two sisters from the order visit the slums to provide medical services.
